This is a free chest of drawers we got at a garage sale several years ago and I decided to experiment with painting them and this is what I got! I also had a set of shelves I had chosen for Kevin's oil lamp collection to tend to so I decided to use the same concept and it worked great!!!!
Things are beginning to change and look better! Keep reading to see our latest improvements over the last year.

New Windows!
I thought I had already posted this! I'm getting behind! Kevin installed windows for the living room to balance the front and allow more lighting for the living room. Unfortunately, the lighting for the living room also allowed more heat so I blocked with bamboo shade. Once we get screens to block the heat, I will remove the shades. Now, to get trim for interior living room and dining room, then comes total redo for kitchen and bathroom. :)
Things are Moving Along
Well it's been quiet around here the past few months. Between the weather and work Kevin is getting done with what he can when he can.
Kevin put a wood floor in the garage. His dad, Bob came over and fancied it up by sanding and painting. You can see how Kevin has dressed up the front so far with windows and a door. The door used to be the front door of the house. He and David poured the concrete for the porch. The porch will eventually be the width of the front. He is getting closer to opening up the leather shop!
Kevin decided to use some sort leftover from leveling the side and backyard to install a garden.
This is the path from the carport to the shop. Kevin dug up the rocks from the front yard where they made a walkway from the front door to driveway and the mailbox.
My kitchen cabinets are finally coming together. I had wanted to get them finished last summer but never got around to it. There wasn't anyplace in the house to lay out the doors to paint them and still function during the day. I couldn't do them on the back porch because it is oil paint and bugs, etc would get stuck in paint during drying. Kevin decided to put his new shop to use by getting the doors painted, painting the chicken wire red, and attaching it to the doors. When he began installing we could only locate 2 sets of hinges and 5 cabinet pulls. Now they are on order and we're patiently waiting.
While strolling at 1st Monday, Kevin came across this porch light for $5 which he promptly installed on the back porch! Thank goodness, what we were using made me nervous!
