Week 2 . . .

Master Bedroom . . .
This room has had all paneling removed and the huge closet and entry way. Kevin has pulled some the unusable hardwood from David's room and replaced damaged hardwood in this room. Next step is framing the room, drywall and sanding floor. We will be adding a closet to run along wall by door. Notice the original doorway that led to the living room.

The room after gutting
Wall new closet will be on.

The old closet is gone!

David's Bedroom . . .
Pictured right below is wallpaper that was found by the Hamrick's when they were demo'ing the little closet in David's room. The black design was felt. Notice the change in the print at the bottom that bordered the floor or ceiling. This looked like it might have been pretty fancy back when!

There is now a hole in David's room where Kevin removed good hardwood to place in our room. When David was removing trash from closet and he accidently broke one of the single pane windows. He neglected to put a piece board under the window to keep it from shutting and it later slammed down and broke some more. At least it was just one window!

Hole in the floor!

You can hardly see the broken glass . . . middle window. You have to love the curtain!

Closer view of hole.

Where the closet use to be! Thanks to Hamrick's, its outta here!

This is where utility closet and David's closet will soon be and the existing doorway will be gone.

Rest of the house . . .
Lydia and I have been cleaning! The house was not nasty but it had been sitting empty for 6+ years and the sons of the previous owner had been remodeling the dining and living room. There was a lot of dust on everything and the kitchen and bathroom just needed a good scrubbing. Thanks to Amy for helping me finish scrubbing the kitchen! Lydia's friend, Abby, came to help one day and they went through house and threw away a lot of trash and possessions left behind. Some items that have been discovered are a mini George Foreman grill that Keri insists be added to the garage sale, a computer thingy (I think it might be a modem) that Abby insists must be worth at least $50 so it too will be in garage sale, and last but not least, a vintage french fry cutter that we want to keep. I will add a picture of the last item soon. Lydia has discovered her gift of cleaning; she likes to do . . . windows! Thank goodness because now we can see outside!

My aunt Juanita came to visit and has given us a lot of good ideas to use. She also shared mistakes she and uncle Jon made when fixing up their house. I thank God that I have family and friends who are willing to share and help!
